WHAT'S ELDOA?

ELDOA (Étirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Ostéo Articulaire)

ELDOA was developed by the late and great Dr. Guy Voyer, DO, a world-renowned French osteopath. It is a groundbreaking system of postural exercises designed to decompress joints, improve fascial integrity, and optimize the health of the spine, nervous system, and musculoskeletal structure. Recognizing the body as an interconnected system held together by fascia—the web of connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, organs, and nerves—Dr. Voyer created ELDOA to improve joint space, spinal function, and overall structural integrity.

Unlike generalized stretching or mobility programs, ELDOA uses anatomically precise positions to target specific joints or spinal segments—down to the exact vertebral level. Each posture is meticulously crafted to open space (decoaptation), release myofascial tension, and rebalance the body.

A Revolutionary Approach to Self-Care

ELDOA offers a powerful, personalized method to take control of one's health. Whether seeking:

  • Relief from musculoskeletal pain

  • Better posture and alignment

  • Enhanced athletic performance

  • Recovery from injuries or chronic conditions

ELDOA provides the precision and nuance required to address the underlying causes of dysfunction—not just the symptoms.

This method is built on the principles of myofascial stretching, global tension, and muscle contraction at the end range of motion to create decompression in targeted joints, improving circulation, nerve function, and organ support.

What Makes ELDOA Unique?

ELDOA exercises are:

  • One-minute postures

  • Equipment-free

  • Self-applied and self-correcting

  • Highly specific to each joint or spinal segment

Each posture is designed to decompress a targeted joint or vertebral segment by:

  • Creating fascial tension to stabilize the vertebra below

  • Contracting muscles in an extreme range to normalize the vertebra above

Dr. Voyer developed an ELDOA exercise for every articulation in the spine—from the base of the skull to the sacroiliac joint—including segments like L4/L5, T6/T7, C4/C5, and L5/S1. These postures are anatomically exact and must be performed with precision for maximum benefit.

Not Just for the Spine

While ELDOA originated as a spinal method, it also targets joints throughout the body, including:

  • Sacroiliac joints

  • Hips and pelvis

  • Shoulders and ribs

  • Cranial sutures of the skull

This comprehensive approach means ELDOA can enhance performance, prevent injury, and reduce pain in multiple systems of the body.

General Effects of ELDOA

Joint Space

Decompress and increase space at a specific articulation, to reduce joint inflammation and arthrosis

Better Awareness

Improve spinal kinesthetic awareness and deepened mind-body connection

Spinal Disc Health

Mobilize and rehydrate spinal discs, reducing disc pressure and delaying disc degeneration

Improved Mobility

Enhance joint mechanics, leading to better muscle tone, flexibility, and posture

Chronic Pain Relief

Relieve acute and chronic back, neck, hip, SIJ and shoulder pain

Visceral Function

Support cardiac, respiratory, and digestive function as the fascia connects the viscera to the spine

Global Recognition in Health & Performance

The ELDOA method is trusted by:

  • Osteopaths

  • Chiropractors

  • Physical therapists

  • Trainers and movement professionals

  • Doctors and integrative health practitioners

And it's used by elite athletes across the NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA, PGA, and the UK Olympic Track & Field Team to enhance performance, reduce recovery time, and prevent injury.

Who Is ELDOA For?

ELDOA is suitable for:

  • 🏋️‍♂️ Athletes seeking peak performance and faster recovery

  • 👤 Individuals with chronic or acute pain

  • 🧍‍♀️ Those with postural or spinal imbalances

  • 🏥 People recovering from injury or surgery

  • 🧘‍♂️ Anyone wanting to move better, feel better, and age well

Whether you're managing discomfort or aiming to elevate your physical function, ELDOA offers a sustainable and transformative path to a stronger, more aligned body.

  • Sports medicine

  • Traumatology

  • Psychological and physical medicine

  • Manual therapy

It was in osteopathy that he found his true calling. Dr. Voyer’s relentless pursuit of knowledge led to years of anatomical dissection, research, and clinical application. His focus on fascia—the connective tissue that links every structure in the body—led to the creation of multiple groundbreaking methodologies that are now taught and practiced worldwide.

Innovator, Educator, and Global Leader

Guy Voyer’s revolutionary contributions include:

  • ELDOA™ – Postural exercises for joint decompression

  • Myofascial Stretching – Stretching fascial chains for global release

  • SomaTraining – A curriculum for high-level movement specialists

  • SomaTherapy – Manual therapy training for healthcare practitioners

Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Science, Dr. Voyer believed in empowering others through education. His programs are taught across Europe, North America, and Asia, helping professionals elevate their understanding of anatomy, movement, and healing. Though Dr. Guy Voyer is no longer with us, his methods and philosophy continue to transform lives through practitioners and students around the world.
